Since I started to trade breakouts from consolidation formations, my trading results have changed drastically. My profits are growing, since the enhanced R/R ratio which comes along with this type of trading. After a consolidation period there is a 100% probability, a certainty, that price action will eventually break this formation and go away in a hurry.
the question is: in which direction? We don't know for sure, unless we wait for a decent break of the trendline of the consolidation. We can take the trade after it broke, but we can take it after it has retested the broken trendline. I favor the second option, it is much less risky.
