Today, several countries, including Italy, are fighting for the rights to be called its home. According to the Italians, it was their ancestors in the 10th century, when there was a bad year. They replaced wheat with grated almonds, later they came up with sugar added to it.

In Germany, the marzipan is mandatory meal on Christmas table.

I noticed the Austrians also like marzipans when was on a trip in Salzburg. They produce famous Mozart marzipan candies.
