Until I was 13 I didn’t know there are skin problems and pimples. But after I passed this age I met the struggles.
I have tried million different treatments, skincare products, tips and tricks, but nothing seemed to work on me on 100%. I have tried to go organic then come back to mas-market, pharmacy and Superdrug products. I had my skin dry, super-dry-greasy, dehydrated, damaged and all the possible results instead flawless.
I went trough trying all super advertised products, which most of the time did not give any results or too little results for the price.
And then I have discovered French cosmetics. I used to use Bioderma Micellar water in the past for removing cosmetics. It was super comfy but would not really make a big difference to my skin so I didn’t appreciate it until I have tried many more make-up removal products and came back to where I have started.
That time I was interested in different cultures skin care routines and I have found out that large amount of the skin care products and cosmetics are produced in France.
The biggest ones are: Vichy, Bioderma, Yves-Rocher, La Roche Posay, Lo’real, Caudalie, Avene, Klorane, Biotherm, Nuxe and many more.
I have started my journey with La Roche Posay. The very first product I have bought was Toleriane Ultra Fluide. It made me very disappointed and I decided it is all the same but the thing with this brand is that you have to make sure you are picking the right product for your skin type. So after I was disappointed I tried out Greek cosmetics Korres (which was actually quite good and organic as well), some big brands like Lancome (still French company, but very disappointing one), Australian brand Sukin (which I am still obsessed with) and theeeeen… I met my old friend. She also had a skin problems and her skin looked amazing, so I asked her what is the secret.
La Roche Posay Effaclar she said. First I thought Nooo, this cosmetics doesn’t do anything, it is too neutral to treat skin with acne and blackheads, but her skin was saying something else. Next day I ordered full set including Gel, Tonic, Effaclar Duo + and started the process of making my skin look healthier.
It is not one of this stories where I will tell “It Does Magic, maaaagic”, no! For me and my skin type I should have started slowly. My skin is combined, sensitive and easily can get dry patches. If your skin has same tendencies be careful don’t do all the products from line Effaclar together, twice a day. It will make your skin come off. I know that as it was the thing I did. I washed the face, applied generously tonic coupe of times, put cream especially on the problem zones and repeated it day after day in the morning and before I went to sleep. The effect of burned skin didn’t ask to wait. After approximately 3 days my skin was all coming of and looked dry. Well sure It is a good sign that the line exfoliates skin and has some acids in the ingredients, but the facts it was so extreme made me stop using it for a while and then to start all over again but in a more smart way.
I started with applying cream every second evening, and putting tonic only on places which need extra attention, face gel I found quite gentle for combo skin, so I used it every evening.
Now I still use tonic only on problematic areas, gel every evening and cream in the morning and at night. If you planing to use the cream in the morning make sure to apply and reapply at least SPF30 cream, as skin is very sensitive to sun after using cream with salicylic acid.
My skin tone never was so even, my pores, OMG, they have never been so small and invisible and that was not even my goal. Pimples are slowly melting and disappearing and the best thing is that I do not get crazy breakouts as I did before. Even if I do have some occasional “unexpected friend” on my face, after applying cream the redness reduces dramatically. And I forgot about blackheads, because they do not bother me anymore.
Just to mention, I have also tried strong creams like Retinol creams and some prescription medications which did the job but also damaged my skin by over-drying it.
If your pimples are not hormonal or not something you should only go to GP with, you may consider of trying this line and I hope you will be amazed with it as I am.
