During this time of the year you probably will hear so many promises so many new changes, and self-improvement rhetorics that peoples make to themselves, that you'll believe the world is going to turn into a wonderful place. What is curious is no one is forced to make this new year resolution but everyone is doing it of it's own will, maybe is something that makes you fell good about yourself or just heard mentality. We have seen this happening over and over again, gyms get full in January and get empty by February as people loss motivation and drops their New Year's resolutions.

Recently I've been reading quite an interesting approach on New Year's resolutions:

"I am quite certain that new year resolutions don't really work, are more wishful thinking. I have personally never been successful with positive resolutions, but have been with stated negative year-end rules: in 2007 (never be late for the year 2008 which worked well by injecting redundancies, and seems to have effortless carried over to today) and 2012 (no reading outside of math for 2013, with weak exceptions)." Nassim Taleb.

  • My New Year's Resolutions

Instead of having big dreams set for the next year, I'm going to take this new approach with "with stated negative year-end rules". So here is my New Year's resolutions for the 2014 year:

  • I'll be trying to focus less on profitable positions knowing that profits do care of themselves, and instead I'll be focusing on managing the bad positions.
  • Less crappy trading setups for 2014, only A+++ setups I'll be trading.
  • My goal for 2014 in terms of profitability is to hit the 6 figure mark, this is a reasonable and achievable target.

As you can see I'm keeping the list as short as possible there is no need for countless promises that you will never follow. If I'll be around here until the end of 2014 I'll let you know how it went out.

PS: I would like to hear your New Year resolutions.

Wish you all a Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!
