Endnote and comments: January 2011

The first contest month of the new year is now over and the winners are to be presented.

As was expected, we've been witnessing an increase in activity around the contest which outdid itself in both number of registrations and in the intensity of communication observed in comments and in the forum. In supporting this active communication we have strived, and will strive, to rely to every email and message. We really want the renowned transparency with which Dukascopy is associated with to be applicable to the contest as well

Some general conclusions and observations from January:

  • The 5 mio limit intensified the competition and had a positive effect on balancing the disproportions which arise from the usage of excessive lot amounts;
  • Statistics added to profile pages allowed contestants to follow their performance and their compliance to the recommendations to be able to receive a favourable Dukascopy evaluation;
  • The strategy description field appeared to be well used traders as a tool to communicate their trading patterns and;
  • We are really impressed that there seems to be an increased understanding of the importance of sensible comments amongst traders aspiring to strike winning positions and to attract more visitors to their pages. Ultimately, the more consistent and detailed you are in your descriptions, the more interesting it is to follow your blog (Popularity).

A brief overview of functionalities added in January:

  • 5 mio lot amount limit
  • Trader statistics on profile pages
  • Pending sentiments chart
  • Search field in contest standings
  • Improved IP visits mechanism (now not only registered users are counted)
  • Strategy description form on profiles pages
  • Bugs fixed in the reflection of orders opened/closed by partial fills (order duplication/triplication)
  • Informative box for next month registrations added
  • Other amendments and performance improvements

New functionalities coming soon:

  • Individual post sharing
  • Attachment of screenshots from the platform (for those who want to justify their trades with technicsl analysis images)
  • Free format posts in the blog
  • Profile info editing
  • Possible changes in trading rules following requests from participants
  • Other updates...
