I have submitted article before 4 hours but yet it has not been approved.
Articles will be approved in 1 day usually if you write them during business days, or after the weekend if you write them on Saturday/Sunday. Also if there are X-mas etc. it will sure take longer than a single day. At least that is what I am always experiencing.
An article is usually approved within one or two business days.
Sometimes it may take longer though and a bit of patience is needed.
