Labour market is one spot of the U.S. economy that has been outperforming on a consistent basis. A weak monthly NFP figure here and there but we can clearly see strong activity in the market by looking at JOLTS' indicators. Job Openings indicator has been on a steady rise since late 2009 but the pace picked up in 2014 and an all time high was hit last month at 6.16M. Estimate for July stands at 5.96M. Despite that July's NFP was revised lower (to 189K from 209K), it's still a solid number and I expect Job Openings to remain strong. There may be some pullback though.

Since the beginning of 2017, UK's CPI (YoY) has well averaged over 2.5% & exceeding much above the official inflation taget of BoE. Interestingly, the CPI is forecast to have grown to 2.8% in August but it is a fact that even if it comes at 5.0% or higher, the BoE will totally ignore it once again as they already have voted 6-2 in favor of keeping the interest rate on hold! Also, they are simply monitoring wage growth & using that data in their policy-making for now. Therefore it is best to look at the Average Earning Index, Claimant Count Change & Unemployment Rate data due tomorrow this time

PPI (YoY) filters out most of month-to-month noise and thus shows underlying trend much more clearly. The indicator resurfaced in the second half of 2016, in line with broad inflationary pressures that started to emerge globally. Indicators stood at -0.1% and 2.4%, respectively, in September. Weak October figures could see some selling.

Crude Oil Inventories is a weekly indicator that tracks number of barrels of crude oil stored by U.S. merchants. It posted three consecutive weeks of surplus in September, most likely due to oil demand being impacted by hurricane season. This may last for a few more weeks. More supplies means lower price of oil and in turn lower Canadian dollar.
