So far so good, August's return 80%

Hi,
First two weeks of August have gone and I've mange to make an almost 80% return on my Trader contest account (see Figure 1). If I manage to compound that I should be looking at the end of the month for my account balance to stand near 300k. I only hope this will be enough for me to secure a place in the top 10 rank.

Trader Contest - Drawdown Points

This is just a suggestion but I think that it will be appropriate for Dukascopy to introduce extra points for drawdown this way you'll award the people who have in place a proper risk management and discourage people from taking an extra big risk. For example this month only the lucky ones who went all in, especially on yen crosses, made big profits. I'm not sure how much weight should have on the overall score but it won't be bad even if you award people with low DD with only a few extra points…

Tougher Trading Competition

I'll have to say that the Trader Contest has evolve over the past few months and you can tell now that the majority of traders are paying bigger attention to the Order quality points as at a first glance majority of traders in top 10 have the highest score and this wasn't the case few months back. Stopped out on EUR/USD short

I decided to close my short EUR/USD at a minimum loss and it seems that I was right as the market has indeed gone up. I have to say that I was inpatient with this trade as I was really took a trade that was no there I just felt the need to push my position in the rank but as always when you don't trade like a professional the market will punish you.
I'll be waiting for a better opportunity even if that means that I should take no trades.

Congrats anyway for your position in the rank! :) It is not easy to be consistently good in trading, but with time it will be like a 6th sense... ;)

Account Long Term Balance

In today's blog post I just want to take the time and analyse my long term balance here on the Trader Contest. I know I have been performing poorly and not trying to make any excuses but when I was trading here I wasn't having any kind of risk management in place as I always trade full size. I smile when I see these guys with a million in the contest and then I check their back record of deep deep red . In no way does the contest size up to real trading ( it never could ,with no consequences ).It's hit and hope that you catch a break on the first week and then you take it from there . Don't beat yourself up too much !!  . The real stuff starts when you start to meet turnover with your prize money :)) .

JockPippin Well I agree with you that demo trading has noting do to with live trading. So, on consequence of course you'll have different results demo vs live. If you don't hit it big from beginning of the month than you open up yourself to overtrading and this ultimately will lead to more loses, so I think we're on the same page on all aspects here:)

Trader Contest Long Term Account Balance

In coming months my main objective would be to address and correct my long term account balance in the Trader Contest. If you look at my long term account balance it looks very nasty and shows a "consistency inconsistency". Since August 2014 my balance has been going in a downward spiral and I've managed to bring it down to even -70%. Trader Contest Recommandation

I would like to give you some feedback on how to improve the Trader Contest regarding the accessibility of blog post content. Usually I go through my blog post and re-read them when I'm posting some analysis, however I noticed that there is no search functionality. Usually I have to go months back until I find my blog post, maybe if you could integrate a search tab to be able to search by some key words or by the tags?

Even thought I'm not sure I'll be able to compete in this month's Trader Contest I'll at least give it a try and see how things develop. New Month - Day 1

First of all I want to let you know that I have no idea if I'll be able to compete in the Trader Contest let alone to finish the contest. Right now I have strong commitments with my personal account and also managing some OPM. But this doesn't mean that at least I will not give it a try, maybe I can have a chance to do well. Last month it was quite hard to focus on both live account as well as on the demo account.

US Dollar Index Target Hit

I just can't believe I'm already out from the Trader Contest, but unfortunately I blow up my chances for this month to catch any top rank. However I'm glad to see the return in volatility, when you have day with +200 pips in EUR/USD you just can't ask for more.
During this past year I really anticipated a lot of big swing movements, and one of those great call is definitely the US dollar bullish trend.

Can't argue the strength of this blog or the USDI. All the strength indications are there. Little bit overheated so a nice pullback would present nice buying opportunities. Nice anlysis!
