Red or colored Zhangye rocks are located in China, Gаnsu Geolоgical Park. The formation of this miracle of nature began 100 million years ago when this place was an internal part of water. As a result of endogenous (internal) forces the territory was gradually raised, the water disappeared, and the place of the bottom of the water basin of any colored cliffs.
The geological phenomenon known the science as Dаnxia Lаndform is the painting of natural forms of sandstone of different colors. In the world there are many such places, but only in Zhаngye Nature has spared no paints, creating a unique natural park included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2010.
In addition to the internal processes in the creation of color rocks serve as external factors such as wind and water erosion. The rugged terrain is characterized by the impressive form of natural pillars, ravines, valleys. For the convenience of tourists the local population has created paths and suspension bridges made of wood.
