A Nostalgic Journey

What a crazy and silly task! Some may think. But thanks to Dukasummer Contest for leading us to a nostalgic feeling by assigning this task to the participants. The islands where I have been in the last nine years, I haven't met a single firefly. Whereas, my native land is full of these magnificent creatures when it is their season. They come in huge swarms at the sun set and illuminate the night with their scintillating tiny, glimmering lights. What wonderful tiny bugs they are!.

Thieves' Forerunner

"Fortunately" there was no electricity during the golden era of our childhood. Therefore we could enjoy the synchronized light display of the fire fly's in full glory. We used to bring these magical bugs into our room and used to watch their trics with the lights after putting off our oil lamps. Then our parents would come into the rooms to tell us that these flys would invite thieves into our house or they are the forerunners of the thieves which made us a little scary but never deterred us from keeping these tiny torches with us as long as they wished to linger with their blinking lights. In the morning ,anyhow none would be there and in the evening we went out into the darkness, ( for even though there were millions of them around us, they never had enough light to brighten our way!) again to bring them home.

The Task At Hand
As I selected this task I thought If a chance comes my way to go home i would grab it and go catch some fire flys there! While calling home inquired about their arrival and they have begun their show not in full swing because it is still raining there. So that plan was not to be. Still I enjoy the trip down the memory lane as I prepare this post for the contest. and I am sure I will be able to find some of them when I reach there fore my annual holidays.

Thank you all.
