I knew Dukascopy from their unrivaled web-master tools they are offering at the time I was creating a personal website to have all the tools I need for trading at one place. While I was thinking of switching one of my real trade accounts here to Dukascopy, I found this:

A typo in the word currencies at : https://www.dukascopy.com/swiss/english/marketwatch/swfx/. This made me stop for a while, maybe to you it looks like two misplaced letters, but to me, its an entire faulty reviewing process. Simply, because that passed the self-check (person who typed must self check his work), passed the reviewer (if there is one) and finally passed the approval (again if there is one). This made me think, need to try these guys, and hence found the Community which is a truly marvelous idea to be admired. So, I thought why not try them through this community. Within this two months, here are my findings.
PLEASE NOTE ALL THESE ISSUES WERE SCREENCAST AS VIDEOS FOR REFERENCE (Strange the tricks the mind can play)
  • NN-1 : Dozens of Typos : Trading carrier instead of Trading Career, Currenceis instead of currencies, and then you name it.
  • NN-2 : Editor Malfunction (CLOSED): While preparing to submit my article, found the editor buttons not working, can't save, preview. Nothing. After 24 hours of the case [#FME-368297], I sent the following browser test-results that shows that the TAGS select list had an error (See Below). After 36 hours, Mr. Robert Graves & Mr. Alexander Pishvanov worked on it and followed it up. Just giving the credit for honesty. Once again, thought about the process and realized from my experience in this field, that either a CHANGE MANAGEMENT procedure is missing or not effective at all.
  • NN-3: While submitting the above via "Report an Issue" because I didn't get any response initially, I found a funny thing, an Issue with the "Report an Issue" form. The Re-CAPTCHA or the Spam verification image on the form. It doesn't work with one of the three IDENTIFICATION options (DEMO,LIVE & Other Services). I am sure that dozens of you had a problem with it on some of Dukascopy forms.
  • NN-4: Last week, I decided to devote more time to familiarize myself with Dukascopy Mobile applications via the Trader Contest. Since, I have two trading accounts from two different brokers (the reason of two is that the first has lower spreads on Majors and crosses, while the other has the lowest on Exotics), I always drop Dukascopy trades. Last week, I decided to manually close an order, while the iTab was being charged, I used another using Android, and the funny thing. I couldn't. I recalled : "Is it meant to be for the sake of the contest?". No, Nihad cause you did close it on this tab on the previous week.
  • NN-5: The Chatting window is not functional if you surf to the community, neither in the Mobile media-view nor if you switched to the "Full-Version".
  • NN-6: After the previous one, said doesn't matter, I will download "DUKASCOPY Connect" on my iPhone and use this as an alternative, and guess what?. "Nobody's online" even-though they are in front of me on the laptop. Thought to myself, maybe you are still unfamiliar with it. Yesterday, I invited a British lady-trader to join in. She registered under the name of "Michelle" and we decided to transfer our conversation to Dukascopy Chat. She only uses her iphone in everything. She reported to me, the Chat isn't working, so I told her never mind, download the CONNECT app, she did, and then she sent me. You are offline and so is one of the girls who immediately sent her a friend request, so she said the two of you are Offline. Then, I realized it wasn't me who was unfamiliar.
  • NN-7: Finally, the straw that broke the back, after finishing my article on JFX platforms which took me, 6 weeks of work. The article was all about the Outstanding JFX API, which truly is. I submitted it on the 23 of May, but this article got 55 slides and images had to be hosted on an image cloud, so I used the BBCode. The code below is the BBCode for the article (note the BBCode button is checked).

and when I uncheck the BBCode button this is what I got:

So, what the problem then??. While the BBCode is executed in the EDIT mode, it doesn't in the PREVIEW and hence the Publishing, like Below:

I get the TAGS not executed in the Preview or the Publishing Mode. After, sending an email to the Contest administration, I received an email telling me, that I had an issue with my images. I left everything, went to phpBB playground to test my code as a double check (huh, double check), it rendered. Got back to them with an email, describing the following:
If the images aren't working, why is it executing in the EDIT mode?. If it isn't, it shouldn't be rendering in the two modes, but when it renders in the EDIT mode, this leaves one option to troubleshoot. The BBCode parser in the Preview or Publishing mode.
Now, it doesn't matter really with 5 days from the competition ending. So, its destined to be published next month, HOPEFULLY.

ASK YOURSELF HOW MANY BUGS HAVE YOU REPORTED?

After recapping all of these incidents together, a logical question popped in my head, what are we doing here exactly, ARE WE:

1-Trading and Sharing our experiences
2-Beta-testing these platforms.
3-Doing both.

When I spend my time, researching and writing about my trading experiences and at the same time I troubleshoot these numerous bugs and even provide evidence, because the first thing you will hear, "Its your fault". So you have to prove otherwise.

Finally, to the senior management of Dukascopy:

I have traded on MT4, Forex.com, FXCM's Tradestation, TD Ameritrade's Think or Swim & OANDA. In addition, to the stand-alones Ninja and e-Signal. What I was originally doing and still owning a software house is called "Organizational Excellence", this is far beyond System analysis, but I fell in love with trading, and this job is my un-divorced ex-wife, who am still taking care of, and here is my free advice:
  1. These products from the functional perspective are BETAs, don't take my word for it, hire someone (EXTERNAL) to do you a CMMI evaluation of the underlying system to know where you are standing, and am telling you that Maturity level-1 would be an A-Star. These products aren't suitable for REAL-TIME trading yet. The frequency of these bugs are saying so compared to the industry norms.
  2. Terminate your marketing campaigns for REAL or LIVE accounts for now, until you have a maturer trading system in hand. Check your Customer's Retention on REAL accounts and you will find them decreasing as a proof. On the other hand, this is a gold mine for what we call the "BUGS' Traders" They discover your vulnerabilities from Demo Accounts, then they open LIVE accounts. They are equipped with all gadgets: certified and calibrated testing gears to have official records in case the broker escalated it to a lawsuit. A couple of incidents around the globe had occurred and brokers had to handle it with ultimate discretion by paying a two-digit millions. (Wednesday,6 May,DDoS: doesn't ring a bell ???)
  3. You need to place a rigid system based on the ISO/IEC 20000 standard, as you are now in the category of IT service management, its not enough to be a reputable financial services or liquidity provider, if you are interested in the e-Brokerage.
  4. The highest priority in the ISO/IEC 20000 for now is the CHANGE MANAGEMENT procedure, developers change or improve FUNCTIONAL code without doing the subsequent tests turning it to DYSFUNCTIONAL. The case NN-2 is a clear example. This is a LESS-user friendly FUNCTIONAL code that was CHANGED TO a MORE-friendly DYSFUNCTIONAL code.
  5. Check out the number of Support tickets opened at different time-intervals and the Cost you are paying. Prevention is better than cure. It will give you a hint.
  6. If I was walking in your shoes, I would extend the role of the community from documentation development, reviewing, debugging, testing .etc. All subject to moderation, just like the Wikipedia. That would be 3 for the price of 1 and not just 2. Reward them in your Bit-coin like DUKATS.
  7. The reputation of Dukascopy banking is undisputed but Brokerage is another game and e-Brokerage (with IT-Service management) is a third. So, unless you step rigidly , PULL the PLUG.

Finally, the reason am writing this out, is my sincere appreciation to this leading brilliant community and we all here are striving to make it better and the second is: to me Life means Time, therefore, I only spend it strategically and not on fire-fightings.
