Clinical psychologist, Meg Jay, gave a super impressive talk show delivering a bold message for twentysomethings. Contrary to popular belief, she mentioned our 20s are not a throwaway decade. Jay says that just because career, marriage, having children are happening later in life, doesn't mean you don’t needa start planning now. . She gives few pieces of useful advice for how twentysomethings can re-claim adulthood in the defining decade of their lives.
I really find this talk informative. Since I am in my twentysomething, yep I’m so-called a “kidult”, sometimes I behave and think like a kid psychologically, but actually I’m already an adult physically. Like most of you, I got plenty stuff to worry about, be it my study, my career path, criteria for picking boyfriend, when to get married, blablablaa… all kind of stuff is bothering me every day. I couldn’t care less because it’s my own life, no one but me have to take the responsibility making choices.
As Jay said so, maybe getting married is a bit far from me, but if I don’t plan it, like finding a decent boyfriend and build a long-term relationship, whom I can marry 3,4 years later? Many things in our life really take time for preparation, they won’t just happen all in a sudden. I guess I have to ponder over what sort of life I really want and start planning it from now on.
How about you? Are you in your twentysomething? Have you planned for your future? Just take a couple of minutes listening to what Jay suggested, you will definitely get a click!
