Live gives me a chance to live on the coast of Pacific Ocean In Ecuador.
I lived in Europe and I traveled enough to do comparisons.
Bahia de Caraquez is a small and very calm ecocity where do I live now.
The city is located on a sandy peninsula. From one side is a Chone river and from other side is Pacific Ocean .
It is a city of 20 000 habitants that are still look at gringo people like on smth unusual and exotic.
Bahia is a vocation destination of people from Quito and Guyaquil and wealthy people of Ecuador.
Many Americans come here for vocations and retirement.
The city was found in 1629 by fact book and was very important trade port. It was a piece of important chain that connected South America and Central America for long years. Until in case of political reasons, the government close it.
With new president, Ecuador began to grow very fast. Locals say that 15 years ago there were nothing here, especially after devastations of natural disasters like earthquake and shrimp’s plague in the end of 1990th.
The politics for citizens are very liberal and tolerant.
In my opinion especially Bahia de Caraquez has a great opportunity to be a tourism center of Ecuador.
This is a place with no seasons. The year temperature amplitude is 2 degrees. And summer starts at the end of November.
All kind of flowers and Fruits you could find here all the year : strawberry, pineapple, mango, passion fruits, watermelon, blackberry, papaya, melon, guayaba, bananas and others for very low prices.
This is a very romantic and calm city with wonderful sunsets.
Beach is usually empty. So you could feel yourself like Robinson Cruso.
Different sport activities you can try here like surfing, water skiing, parachuting, canoe sport or kayaking, fishing, or drive water scooters.
Near Bahia there are some islands like Isla de Corazon (Heart Island) where you step like to the land of paradise.
Thousands of birds, butterflies, plants and flowers that you have never met before, like Calibri, parrots or blue-footed booby.
If one day you decide to travel Ecuador all you need is to visit Bahia de Caraques.
Exactly here you can find the country’s soul.
But as almost every place in the world Bahia has it negative parts too.
People still doesn’t speak or understand English here, except policeman. Only spanish.
There are no theaters, no art galleries, no galleries at all, only one archeologic museum, very interesting with lots of artifacts, but only one; no clubs and parties, no cocktail bars, no cinemas, no branded shops, not much shop at all, still no wi-fi in cafes and no much cafes and restaurants.
So this is a place for ecoturism, if you want to be closer to nature, this a place for two.
It is a good alternative for Sri–lanka, India or Thailand when it is winter in Europe.
But if you are dynamic and art lover, as I am, it is not the best place to live when you are young.
So I am waiting for spring to move to Europe.
But I do recommend you Ecuador and especially Bahia de Caraques as a must see place in your life.
Galapagos Islands are the part of Ecuador too, but this is another story.
