As I was born and live in Lithuania, I would like to write about Lithuanian currency - litas. Litas (LT) currently is peged to the EUR at a rate of 3.4528 to1. Litas was introduced at 1922 and was national Lithuanian currency until it was replaced by the Soviet ruble in 1941. After Lithuania regained its independence litas was returned in 1993. It was paged to USD at the rate of 4 to 1 from 1994 to 2002. The litas has been pegged to the EUR at the rate of 3.4528 to 1 since 2002. The euro was expected to replace the litas by January 1, 2010, but persistent high inflation and the economic crisis have delayed Lithuania's euro adoption. Presently government's plans to replaced litas to euro in 1 January 2015.
