All of us know that sleep is important part of our daily routine, generally we spend one-third of our time doing it. But most of us don't know there is a difference between just sleep and sound sleep. That's why I am sharing this important facts with you.

There are three stages of sleep and everyone should know that what actually they are.

First stage- It is called as non- REM sleep and its a changeover from wakefulness to sleep. In this short period, our body, muscles, heart rate, eyes tend to slow. Our brain waves start slowing from daytime wakefull pattern. Its simply a change of body's response from wakefulness to sleep.

Second Stage- Its also a non-REM sleep it is a light before body moves to deep sleep. Our body slows further, heart rate, muscles, and muscles slows down further. Our eye movement stops and body temperature also drops. This stage also marked by some brief bursts of electrical bursts. Generally we spend most of our repeated sleep cycles in this stage.

Third stage- It's a period of deep sleep and we need it most to feel refreshed in morning. It lasts during the first half of night. In this stage, our heart rate and breathing slows to its lowest level. In this stage it is difficult to awake you. In this stages brain waves become even slower.

Our dreams most occur in Rem stage and sometimes in non- REM stage.

There are no magic numbers but it depends on age. Children needs about 9.5 hours of sleeps and grown ups need almost 7-9 hours of sleep.

But the good sleep that is required for everybody. And for that you can do some things, relax before going to bed, listen or read something pleasant for mind. You can take warm bath or even a glass of lukewarm milk can help you in getting good night sleep.
