I never paid much attention to all that ''matching colors'' thing you call fashion. I always looked for functional things, probably because I was stuck in my work. But...
Now when I look at my closet, things have changed pretty much. And a lot.

Let's say how a female closet looks in total
- shirts - sports, work, long - short sleeves, blouses, sweaters...
- trousers - skinny, super skinny, low waist, high waist, jeans, elegant...
- skirts - mini, maxi, wide, A shape, pencil...
- dresses - long, short, cocktail, summer, winter... little black
- jewelry - necklaces, rings, bracelets, earings...
- make up - mascara, lip stick, eye shadow, foundation, blush... brushes
- shoes - boots, sandals, flats, high heels, platforms, sports...
- bags - small, big, winter, summer, leather...
- coats, jackets...

How on earth do you make a good combination not to look like a fashion disaster?

First, and most important - when you buy something, if it feels cheap under your fingers, it probably is. No matter the price tag. And you will look cheap in every way, no discussion on that. No brand name can help, trust me I tried it.

Second, you can match colors, styles, whatever suites you. It depends on your personal look. But it all comes down to shoes, bags and jewelry. I like my own possibility to change identity within 10 minutes and I prefer combinations that I can carry around all day long. Just change jacket, make up or shoes to make an impact and a completely different look.

Exhibit A - my bags (well, those I carry most)

I adore the white one on the right for the summer, and the violet one for the winter. However, I carry others depending on what I have and the occasion.
I adore the Modesty Blaize little purse, and I carry it whenever I can on some night out. It's hand made by my faculty colleague.
However, the two black bags are a sure thing. One was super expensive and I bought it 8 years ago, and the other one is a super cheap casual thing. On a pair of jeans with a simple shirt, those two can leave a different impression - casual everyday girl going to school or something, or a serious woman going from work on a casual Friday.
Other bags - I just love them - the blue one is adorable but just for some goofy moments, and the dirty pink is my new way of accepting brown and beige in my closet.

Exhibit B - shoes (just a portion of them)

High heels - I love them... So much. All of them. they go with jeans, skirts... whatever
Pink, Isabelle Marrant or Lady Gaga, romantic platforms or others... gotta love them.
However, you can distinct what is for which occasion. Matching the green ones is a nightmare, but I had to have them.
Flats - flip flops, sports, elegant, sporty... Personally, I go from boots into flip flops or sandals of that type. And I wear them whenever I can. My feet are tortured for months in boots and my fingers can't wait to look around. You must have one ''elegant'' pair of flip flops - we all have trouble with our shoes sometimes, especially on vacation. So don't wear the Sponge Bob version, get some nice and shiny to help you with your sour feet. Black, white, beige and a color of your choice and you're good to go.
''A girl's just as hot as the shoes she chose''

Exhibit C - closet...

Let's just end it here, shall we?
I have everything a woman needs, including white shirts, little black dress... when you have these two, you can buy a potato sack and look good :Pa lot of bright colors, pink, red...
''You are who you wear, it's true''

Exhibit D - some jewelry and make up

The things that close the deal and bring me to my point. You can have the best dress ever in your life, perfectly matched with your mood, horoscope and date, but if you're not wearing proper make up and have a lousy choice of jewelry, better go home.
I prefer some easy make up as you can see, simple colors (butt naked as they call it) with some accents that matches my clothes. Mascara is a MUST.
Jewelry - pretty much everything. But I NEVER leave my house without a watch! It's a matter of elegance and still distincts you from the crowd. And it can tell time, besides the phone

In total, I have learned to wear things in which I feel good. Because you radiate then with confidence and make others have the perception of a better you (even if you're not that good). To make the match you need, just put things that bring out the good in you. Don't buy something just because it's fashion.
Last year's 'neon' trend was a fashion disaster. 90% of women looked like monsters in clothes. For God's sake, get some jewelry in neon colors and finish on that. Looking like a mark where a plane can land doesn't help the style. I have one Darth Vader shirt in neon pink, my best friend bought it. Together with my crazy platinum hair, it looked like a good match, but not for work (I had it on me when out of the blue I got a meeting with the investor's Project Manager - him all suited up, and me in my crazy pink shirt - NO). Good thing is that many men love ''Star Wars'', so I was OK.

I hate beige, brown... personal thing. I don't like them, they kill my alive personality.

One thing - RED. Attention all over it. Not every woman can handle red. You need to have a personality, confidence, be straight and ALWAYS at least some make up to wear it. Thin line between hot and cheap prostitute. I mean it, I have seen women in red who simply can't wear it. You must have self confidence that goes to roof top to look good in it. This one I took from men, not women.

Keep it simple, don't over do. Coco Channel had the advice - before you go out of the house, take one piece off.

You know what? I showed you some things out of my closet, and I have a problem with some shoes I need to buy and to get one more dress.
Because without them, I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!!!

For the end of the story, I picked a fashion monster and a trend setter - Lady Gaga to listen to.

Fashion, put in on on me, don't you want to see these clothes on me,
Fashion, I am anyone you want me to be...
