During the days when I was eagerly waiting to travel to Maldives, one of my thoughts was to swim a lot in the beach waters. But in my island, when I reached the beach I realized that it was nothing like at all the silver sand stretches I had read and seen about , and again as I reluctantly slid into the waters, the clear turquoise nutrient -rich coral water I had dreamed of had turned into a filthy mess! Disappointed and disgusted I returned to my room.
The next day when I narrated the gap between my dream and the reality my Fishery science colleague informed me that that was the condition of the inhabited islands and for the pristine white sandy beaches and crystal waters we have to visit uninhabited islands or pay a few thousands per day to stay in a resort to feel the difference.




We opted for the former and the teachers' picnic was fixed in one of such nearby islands, named Lofaru. One of those days I was told about snorkeling and the snorkeling goggles. I was attracted to the idea and i too packed one such goggle into my backpack.

To cut the long story short, It was literally like a dream coming true. The beach, the water and then the under water world which is really bewitching. None of us had a under water camera and for the first time in life I regretted not having such a gadget!
