Human resources consultancy who interviewed more than 1,000 workers, established a top ten of the factors which make people happy at work:

1. Being part of a successful team.
2. Doing something rewarding.
3. Doing varied work.
4. Earning competitive salary.
5. Doing enjoyable work.
6. Feeling that you are making difference.
7. Having a good boss or manager.
8. Having a good work-life balance.
9. Having friendly, supportive colleagues.
10. Having your achievements recognized.



The more important factor for majority of the people was having friendly, supportive colleagues. In fact 73% of people interviewed put their relationship with colleagues as being the key factor contributing to happiness at work, which is a very high persentage.

The second most important factor was having work that is enjoyable, that is people actually liking what they do. The least important factor was, rather suprisingly, earning a competitive salary!

Also the survey revealed that people definitely prefer working for smaller organizations or companies with less then 100 staff. Generally speaking, women are happier in ther work than men.

Wokers on a part-time contracts, who only work 4-5 hours a day, are happier than those who work full-time. It`s all due to a better work-time ballance.

Not surprisingly, the higher people go in a company, the happier thy are.

Happiness declines the longer people stay with the same company or organization. The most happiest people are those who work in a company for less than 3 years.
