In the field of psychology, this is considered to be a healthy form of self-evaluation.However,a distinction is made between positive self-talk and negative self-talk.Small talks are actually something bigThose who manage to start a conversation with strangers, break the ice and treat them like friends have the world at their feet;But it’s incredibly difficult.There are some practical headlines for starting a better conversation, with strangers. Ask for adviceAsk a second questionDon’t ask what do you do for a livingDon’t start a conversation about things that interest youListenWhich in short once Epictetus told:We have two ears and one mouth1A Social judgment theoryA question to when people allow themselves to be persuaded about something, and when not?There could be 3 factors that could play a role in persuading us to change our opinion: The anchor pointRoom for maneuverEgo InvolvementThe cooperative principle(How we should express ourselves in order to be understood ?)Speaker, and listener want to behave cooperatively. This means that one person wants to be understood, and the other to understand. In order for this to work, there are four conversational maxims:Maxim of quantity - Say sufficient to be understood, or you will cause confusion Maxim of quality - Tell the truthMaxim of relevance - don’t say anything irrelevant, don’t change the subject Maxim of manner - Avoid volatility, and stick to a logical argument, only say what is true and important, and express it clearly and simplyExpectancy violation(How much distance we keep from other people)According to Burgoon-for western world-with regards to keeping our distance: Intimate space-elbow room:Up to 50 CMWithin this space, one expects to get touched by the other, and it’s reserved for close ones.Personal space:50 CM to 120 CM;The typical distance one keeps from people the person doesn’t know.Public space:360 CM, or more. This distance is best explains which people do we avoid.
