Probably the most famous and popular kpop star in Korea is BOA (maybe until Psy's Gangnam style). She debuted when she was 13 and I think it was in 1998. I was a teenager back then but fell in love with her debut song "SARA" which is the name of her cat. The cat in her music video is so cute but anyway, at age 13 you could really see her talent. She's an amazing singer which only some of her videos show. Most of her videos highlight her dancing skills more.
Even at age 13 you could see that she could dance. I wanted to be able to dance like her too. When it comes to dance, I'm more into hip hop and pop styles and then contemporary or modern dance. She's worked really hard and hasn't fallen into problems as some western stars have. She has actually worked with Britney Spears though, in Korea.
There's a lot I could tell you about her. Now she has become the face of SM entertainment or SMTOWN as it's often called. She's involved not only in the performing but also in the making and producing of her videos and of other artists videos within SMTOWN. Her younger brother has also gotten into the business and recently directed and produced one of her videos. She also speaks English and Japanese but so do a lot of other Korean artists.
